Jeanne, retired
to Pinehurst in
1994. His career
callings were as a
Navy pilot and a
sales/marketing
manager for
naval communications systems. His life-long
interest in military and political studies was
honed by a broad academic background: twoyears
of Liberal Arts at Columbia University, BS in
Marine Engineering from US Naval Academy, two
years studying Political Science at the University
of Madrid, Spain as an Olmsted Scholar, MA
in International Relations from American
University and MS in Management Science from
George Washington University. As a naval pilot
and communications sub-specialist, he served
as Commanding Officer of a Navy strategic
communications aircraft squadron and of shore
communications stations in Iceland and Guam.
In addition to “Bucket List” traveling and
playing golf, they are active in Moore TEA Citizens
and feel blessed as members of Trinity Christian
Fellowship Church.
classic focus! Our Founding Fathers, led by
Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, created
our Founding Documents: Declaration of
Independence and US Constitution. These
were the primary genesis of the “NEW PATH”
for structuring governments, which was later
dramatically immortalized by Lincoln in his
Gettysburg Address: “…this nation, under God,
shall have a new birth of freedom—and that
government of the people, by the people, for the
people, shall not perish from the earth.” John
Adams added the transcendental codicil: “Our
Constitution was made ONLY FOR a moral and
religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the
government of any other.” All of this defined the
true fountainhead of American Exceptionalism
because they guarantee our citizens the
protection of “unalienable Rights endowed
by their Creator” (i.e., specifically NOT THE
GOVERNMENT) within a political framework
based solely on “consent of the governed” with
“separation of powers” constrained by a system
of “checks and balances!” Government was
wisely designed to satisfy the transcendental
requirement to be completely in consonance
with what is MANDATORY to deliver the moral
benefits that had been promised to us in our
Founding Documents. This is the classic
fulfillment of the legal term, Sine qua non, which
means that WITHOUT THE INDISPENSABLE
ELEMENT, i.e., MORALITY, ENUMERATED
RIGHTS CAN’T EXIST!
On this cautionary note, I bid you a fond
farewell, but not goodbye. I hope you have
enjoyed reading my words as much as I have
enjoyed writing them. And I plan to write
occasionally for the Gazette, but not on my
current firm schedule. But it will be more in the
context of travelogues, like this article. After all,
in our 2020 plans, Jeanne and I will be traveling
to East Anglia, England next month.(Although
now postponed by Coronavirus.) We have
always had a shared desire to visit where her
parents met in WWII: her father as a bombardier
on an Army Air Corps B-24 Bomber bombing
Germany, and her mother served in the British
Women’s Auxiliary Air Force. And we’ll be
celebrating Thanksgiving in Nazareth. Israel has
been a #1 Bucket List item for years! So you can
look forward to more travelogues in the future.
