Protect Your Wallet & Your Home
The meter box in front of your home contains more than the
meter. Inside is a valve, also called a curb stop, that — in an
emergency — can shut off the water line to your home and
all water in your home. In the event of a water emergency,
having quick access to this valve is critical. When working
on your lawn or landscaping, take a few minutes to clean
the sand out of this box with a trowel or shop vac. It’s also a
good idea to take a look at the meter. If it’s moving and all of
your faucets, hoses and washing machines are off, you may
have a leak that’s costing you money.
Water Maintenance Program
Resumes
The city of Clearwater and Pinellas County will conduct
routine maintenance on the water system from Sept. 20 to
Oct. 9. The method of water treatment will be temporarily
changed from chloramines to chlorine disinfection in order
to optimize water quality. The first segment was in May
and June. Some residents may notice a difference in the
taste or odor of their drinking water. The water is perfectly
safe to drink and meets all federal and state drinking water
guidelines. Call Clearwater Public Utilities at 562-4960 with
questions.
