The library has always been a must during the summer months.
Whether you visit your local branch or check out materials online,
so check ahead and pencil in some of these entertaining and educational
virtual programs available through the Monmouth County Library.
Family Summer Virtual Cooking Camp
Mondays, July 19 and 26 and Aug. 2, 9 and 16 at 7 pm
Cook along with Chef Rob at this virtual cooking camp for the entire
family! Register to receive recipes and photos, emailed in advance. Live
classes will be rebroadcast on the library website. The menu on July 19 is
Chicken Quesadillas Fajita Style and Holy Guacamole.
3 Mini Makeovers to Get Your Decluttering Done
Wednesdays at 7 pm
Organizing Humorist Jamie Novak shares her tips on tackling the
most cluttered spots in your home. She’ll walk you through three mini
makeovers. You can register for all three at the same time. On July 21,
28, “Sort Out the Storage Area” will reveal three steps to decluttering your
garage, attic and basement. On Aug. 4, Novak presents “File, Sort and
Shed the Paperwork.” If your tabletops are covered with paper and your

From High Point to Cape May
Tuesday, July 27 at 7 pm
Naturalist Jim Peck will show his photos and discuss beautiful and
little-known natural areas found all across this diverse state. He has traveled
through New Jersey for 14 years, exploring and writing the "Trail Mix
Nature Column" for the Home News Tribune. He has also visited 49 states
with just North Dakota to go. Peck worked for more than three years as
the education director of the American Littoral Society. He also served for
three years as the executive director of the Cora Hartshorn Arboretum and
Bird Sanctuary in Short Hills, educating the public and restoring native
plants in the 16-acre arboretum. Registration is not required.
Encore Presentation! A Tour of Historic
Colts Neck by Lillian G. Burry
This event is presented by the Colts Neck Historical Preservation
Committee. Monmouth County Commissioner Lillian G. Burry will discuss
sites along with a brief history of each location, photos from history and
current scenes. Burry is a longtime resident of Colts Neck. She served on
the Township Committee and as mayor, and she helped create historic
preservation committees.
Top 10 Landscape Design Mistakes
Master Gardener Virtual Program
Rutgers Master Gardener Debbie LaGattuta discusses the most common
design and plant selection mistakes seen in many home landscapes.
Learn what trees and shrubs to avoid and how to make sure you've chosen
the best location before digging that planting hole. She will also explore
basic landscape design concepts and how to make wise decisions when
purchasing perennials, shrubs and trees for a home landscape. Register

Join Robert Rogers Puppet Company in a magical Just So Stories
themed Zoom puppet show! Experience the classic adaptation of
these animal stories shared with handmade puppets by this accomplished
theater producer, director, playwright and designer who will
make the stories come alive!
Party Hearty in the Middle Ages
Sunday, Aug. 8 at 7 pm
This event is Virtual Art History with Mike Norris, PhD, Armchair Art
Tours. Though the Middle Ages are referred to as the Dark Ages, people in
that era often enjoyed good times, especially at the table. Through art and
archaeology, learn about medieval foods and their preparation – including
a recipe for roast unicorn – in late-medieval feasts, as well as the rules
and ceremonies under which these sumptuous foods were presented as
well as the types of entertainment guests might enjoy. Works from the
Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Met's Cloisters Museum will high-
