PLANT SPECIES listed alphabetically by botanical name. See Common to Botanical
Name Cross Reference on page 55.
How to use these listings
This directory identifies commercially available species, wholesale nurseries that can
grow them and suitable sizes for specification. CALL to confirm availability.
Sizes and specifications
For each plant, we list available sizes, with quantities, specifications and nursery contacts.
In the size column, the + sign indicates that larger sizes are available. Additional
sizes may be listed on separate lines or in the specs column.
Planning a large landscape project?
Call growers before writing specifications or listing quantities for landscape jobs. Find
out what is actually available in container sizes. Avoid changes and disappointing substitutions.
FANN members can suggest reasonable specifictions and lead times to acquire
species. Consider contract growing to guarantee availability.
Plant Symbols
Native plants are the primary source of food, shelter and nesting area for native insects,
birds, and other creatures. Symbols highlight exceptional plants, based on respected
scientific and naturalist references, and are a general guide. The most locally applicable
information is always best. To identify local butterflies and birds that can be supported
with native plants, consult your local native nursery, Florida Native Plant Society chapter,
Audubon Florida chapter or North American Butterfly Association chapter.
