Books for You and Your Customers
The more successful you are using native plants — and the more
successful your customers are — the more native plants we can
all grow and sell. Two new native plant books can help you and
your customers make excellent plant choices for beautiful,
high-function landscapes.
Native Plants for Florida Gardens, by Stacey Matrazzo
and Nancy Bissett, focuses on the identification and use
of one hundred Florida native species that are available
from FANN members and long proven for use in gardens
and landscapes around the state (plants for all regions,
including South Florida, are listed). Full color
photos are provided for all plants. Identification information
is detailed and informed by Mattrazzo’s work on
the Florida Wildflower Foundation’s long-running
“Flower Friday” social media series. Cultivation information
has been vetted by FANN’s own founding
mother, Nancy Bissett, whose nearly 40 years of experience
with these plants is unrivaled.
Native Plant Gardening for Birds, Bees & Butterflies,
the Southeast edition, by Jaret Daniels of the Florida Museum
of Natural History and University of Florida, provides
extensive garden planning information and over
a hundred profiles of exceptional native species for pollinators.
The majority of the plants profiled occur in Florida and most
are wide ranging through the southeastern U.S. Some of these
species will take more effort to find but will be worth your effort
if pollinator support is your goal. Full color photos are provided
