From the onset, he is categorized by his freedom
and culminated endeavors; yet, for what it is
worth, we must not neglect to mention the many
tears, the prayers, the lonely days, the dark nights,
the unnoted sacrifices, the fallen associations, the
mistakes, the negotiations, the failed attempts, the
rejection – and lastly, the “shake the dust off of
your feet” disposition that has brought him to a
place of total victory and unshakable commitment.
A place of pure celebration that is illuminated by
the light of Jesus Christ, who has always reminded
Anderson of the scripture found in Deuteronomy
31:6 (NIV: Be strong and courageous. Do not be
afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD
your God goes with you; he will never leave you
nor forsake you.
Rev. Anthony Anderson has been in ministry for
the past 30 years and indeed has a heart for God.
Born to retired United States Army Veteran Levi
Anderson and Mary Ray on an Army base in
Phoenix, Arizona, Anderson is thankful for
parents that are living and in great health to
witness the monumental moments of his life.

Due to the transitory life of any military child,
Anderson moved from place to place while
growing up and experienced life with eight
other siblings living from base to base to base
and yes, another military base! “I remember
living in Memphis with my mother and her
packing up to leave when Dr. King was brutally
assassinated. After that event, we relocated to
Chicago to live with relatives. We stayed on the
South side of Chicago. In fact, it was 38th and
Ellis – those were the projects.” Anderson recalls
quitting 9th grade and getting into “a whole lot
of trouble” as a child in Chicago. Thus, to save
his life – and his education, his mother sent him
to Madison, Mississippi to stay with his father
where he would start 9th grade all over again at
Madison Ridgeland High School. This time, he
finished and found his way onto the grounds of
Jackson State University, where he pledged
Alpha Phi Alpha. A few years later, Anderson
moved to Nashville where he attended
Vanderbilt University, graduating with
a Masters of Divinity.
