Jerry & Becky Edwards
“I think a lot of people who come here are
younger ... they work all week, and they want a
place to go and be themselves, hang out with their
friends, have drinks, sit in the spa, sometimes just
stay in their pajamas and have fun.”
Well al-paca my bags right now!

In a corner of southern Punta Gorda, tucked away
on a little-known road with several other mini
farms, you will fi nd a place of peace. Operated by
Jerry and Becky Edwards, it is a place of solace … of
contentment … of camaraderie … so much so that
once you’ve been there and think about going again,
you’ll jump up and say, “Well, al-paca my bags right
now!”
The little 4,000-square-foot farmette that is
known as the Alpaca Fun Retreat on Aralia Road has
sleeping quarters for 12 people in one wing, and the
Edwards’ rooms are in the other. In the middle is a
huge kitchen, living/craft room and a sun room with
expansive views of a large backyard, complete with
four alpacas. A heated spa and outdoor grilling area
are available as well.
It has become a favorite place for friends and
groups who convene there, and they’re not just little
old ladies who hold sewing circles. In fact, Becky said,
many of their customers are younger people who
come from all walks of life - psychologists, attorneys,
nurses, social workers and paramedics who come
to enjoy the quiet life for a day or for a weekend.
They craft, have parties, and just enjoy each other’s
company in general. Some come in groups of four
or fi ve, others are a full 12 in number.
