DO YOU WANT THE WHOLE PACKAGE?
Kate Prendergast owns Island Life
Concierge, one of the many companies
on the island that takes care of just about
anything you need while you’re on
Gasparilla Island. More than fi ve years
ago she realized there was a need for a
service that would provide residents, parttime
residents and vacationers with an
opportunity to free up their time to enjoy
the island and live in the moment.
“My company provides property owners
with property management services, as well
as concierge services,” Kate explained. “We
can provide everything from basic home
maintenance to home checks and cleaning
services, maintain and transport vehicles
such as cars and golf carts, and manage
services like landscaping, pool service and
maintenance and air conditioning service
and maintenance. We can procure services
for plumbing or electrical problems, even
appliance maintenance.”
Kate said it’s not uncommon for her and
her crew to spend their days doing the
simplest of tasks – such as airing out a home
and stocking the refrigerator – to managing
home improvement projects. She often
makes trips to the local airports to make

sure her clients’ cars are ready and waiting
for them, and sometimes even drives them
right to their doorstep.
A concierge service is used by many
Gasparilla Island residents for weekly
cleaning during the time they stay on the
island, or special cleaning prior to an event
(or after, if it was a great party). Kate’s service
also provides the same service for rental
clients.
With three children of her own, she can
even suggest activities or destinations for
those times when the grandchildren are
coming to visit.
“We do it all,” she said. “We’ll wash
the windows, do routine cleaning, keep
the cupboards and refrigerator stocked,
make sure all essential items for cleaning
or hygiene are replenished as needed,
and make reservations for dining, rentals
or fi shing charters, help to fi nd reliable
babysitters and run errands. If my clients
need anything, we will fi nd a way to supply
it.”
Services can be provided hourly, but many
of her clients who stay longer on the island
sign up for preferential services, reserved by
retainer.
This is a service that may sound more like
a luxury than a necessity, but once you try it
you can’t imagine life without it. This works
out particularly well when family is coming
to visit, or for people who regularly host
parties.
There are many concierge services on
the island. Kate can be reached at ILC.

about the concierge services they provide.
