Boca Grande Pass
The Gasparilla Island Kids Classic is the biggest fi shing
tournament in the world for children ages 15 and under.
One hundred percent of proceeds benefi t the Charlotte
County School system, Easter Seals of Southwest Florida,
the Boca Grande Historical Society, The Bonefi sh & Tarpon
Trust, the Boca Grande Fishing Guides Association and the
Maritime Museum at Whidden’s Marina.
Team entry fee is $1,000 and each team must
have an approved business/corporate sponsor.

Boating and Seamanship Course
June 7, 6 - 9 p.m.
ZOOM (virtual course)
The U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary’s Boating Skills and
Seamanship course is a comprehensive boater certifi cate
course designed for both the experienced and novice
boater. Topics include: Which Boat is for You, Equipment
for Your Boat, Trailering Your Boat, Handling Your Boat,
Highway Signs, Rules of the Road, Lines and Knots,
Weather and Boating, Your Boat’s Radio, and Navigating
the Intra-Coastal Waterway.
The course meets on Zoom, Monday and Thursday
evenings, 6 to 9 p.m. The course consists of 6 required
two-hour lessons plus elective modules, providing up-todate
knowledge for handling boats in all conditions.
At the end of the course, you will receive a USCG
Auxiliary Certifi cate. If you pass the test at the end of the
course, your information will be sent to the Florida Wildlife
Commission (FWC) for you to receive a Florida Boater Card
which is a license in all states. The fee for this course is $40
plus cost of the book.
