2 JESUIT PERSPECTIVES • SPRING 2021
Our school community
has good reason to be
proud of the progress
and development of the school
over the past decade. Our
growth and achievements in
so many areas have caught the
attention of Catholic educators
in other parts of the country.
It has been a true team effort
– organizing accreditation and
sponsorship reviews, learning
from the feedback, developing
school improvement plans,
regularly reviewing those
plans, building an overall
strategy for the institution,
developing a campus master
plan, and attracting the
advance the growth of the
school. While this has involved
the talents of many different
people throughout our school
community, Barry Neuburger
has been indispensable every
step of the way.
Barry’s steady leadership,
borne of deep experience
and practical wisdom, and
his absolute dedication to
the mission of the school
have been the most important
elements of his success as
Principal. Barry is the longestserving
Principal in the history
of the school. The beginning of
his tenure was perfectly timed,
a stroke of providence that will
have a profound impact on
thousands of students, both
those here under his leadership
and generations to come as the
school continues to develop and
grow from the success we have
enjoyed.
Among Barry’s greatest
contributions was the way
he mentored so many of the
younger teachers. He provided
them encouragement and
counsel in their careers as Jesuit
educators. One of those whom
he most greatly impacted,
be his successor. This issue of
Perspectives highlights Mike’s
own extensive experience in
multiple aspects of school life at
Jesuit. That experience, combined
with Mike’s love of the school
and sure grasp of our identity
and school culture, make him
an outstanding candidate to
carry on Barry’s legacy and lead
our community in facing future
challenges.
Please join me in thanking Barry
Neuburger for his truly great
contributions to Jesuit High
School. Also, I ask you to offer
congratulations and support
to Michael Scicchitano as he
prepares to lead our faculty and
students in the years to come.
Yours In Christ,
Rev. Richard C. Hermes, S.J.
President
