Downtown Vision
Woodbridge is undergoing a modern renaissance
that is breathing new life into the downtown business
district and surrounding Transit Village neighborhood.
Luxury and affordable living alternatives, upscale
shopping and retail establishments and eclectic
dining are already attracting the millennial population
to the new downtown.
Over the past several years, the Township has
partnered with the school district to fund more than
$100 million in projects, including construction of two
new schools and renovations at each of the district’s
25 elementary, middle and high schools. Additionally,
the community partnership included nine new turf
fields for football, soccer, baseball and softball; 15
new tennis courts; three new multipurpose athletic
tracks; new cricket fields; a new stadium; multiple
playgrounds; and many other improvements and
enhancements at public and school spaces.
A Regional
Performing Arts Hub
The Avenel Performing Arts Center (APAC), a 13,500-square-
foot performing arts facility designed for theatre, stage
productions and special performances—stands as the
regional showplace for the performing arts in central Jersey.
The APAC recently celebrated its reopening after nationwide
indoor-venue closures due to COVID-19. The APAC has
implemented protocols to ensure a safe theatergoing
experience by limiting capacity pursuant to state guidelines,
establishing six-foot social distancing in public areas and
requiring theatregoers and staff to wear face coverings.
Visit the APAC Box Office at www.avenelarts.com for all
of the upcoming shows and performances.
The APAC also hosts the region’s newest dining venue,
Curtains Bar & Restaurant, featuring bar apps, salads,
burgers, pasta and seafood alongside a full-service bar
with a seasonal cocktail menu and weekly specials, as well
as live entertainment on selected evenings.
