Baseball’s Rites of Winter
Each January, a Red Sox fan’s attention turns to thoughts of…
the annual Winter Weekend at Foxwoods Resort Casino help to
satisfy New Englanders’ longing for the crack of the bat while
providing a brief escape from the drudgeries of winter with talk of
baseball, baseball and more baseball!
Here is a look at some of the fun that took place, for fans, players
and other attendees, at these two rites of winter:
Jackie Bradley, Jr. and Andrew Benintendi attended the 79th annual Boston Baseball
Writers Dinner and received the Defensive Player of the Year Award and the Harry Agganis
Memorial Award (ROY), respectively. Photo by Brita Meng Outzen.
Robby Scott, Brandon Workman and Brian Johnson were the respective recipients of
the Tim Wakefield Award, the Comeback Player of the Year Award and the Lou Gorman
Award. Photo by Brita Meng Outzen.
