Spring Training camp but he had already spent three impressive
seasons in the club’s minor leagues. A native of Aruba, he
was scheduled to play third base for the Netherlands’ team in
the upcoming World Baseball Classic.
Both prospects were slated to begin the season with Triple
A Pawtucket, but Bradley’s play opened eyes immediately.
Three weeks into the exhibition season he was batting .500 and
his outfield play was nothing short of spectacular. Asked if it
was certain that Bradley would start the season in Pawtucket,
Farrell answered, "Likely, but you never want to put a limit
on anyone either. He is making the best of his opportunity by
making a very strong impression."
While Bradley was earning raves, Bogaerts was leaving
to play in the World Baseball Classic. Originally the Red Sox
weren’t keen about their future shortstop missing camp to play
third base but they concluded it would be a good experience
for the youngster. Bogaerts was excited about the opportunity.
“It will be great to play against some of the best players in the
world. This is really a thrill,” he said.
NORTH TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP
When the Red Sox broke training camp on March 31, 2013,
Bradley was one of their players heading to New York to play
