UCLUBS, GNROUPS & CIIVIC ORTGANIZ ATYIONS
Join for Service, Join for Fun
Union County is a community of
“joiners” — whether it’s volunteering
with one of our charitable
organizations or participating in one
of the many local clubs and groups.
The “big three” service clubs are
well represented. The Union County
Rotary Club meets for lunch each
Thursday at noon, and the Union
County Lions Club has been meeting
since its charter in 1966. Blairsville
Kiwanis Club serves the local community
through various service and
fundraising projects. Masons also
meet regularly at Allegheny Masonic
Lodge No. 114.
CARING NEIGHBORS
Ours is a community always ready to
pitch in and lend a helping hand. For
example, you can swing a hammer
with Habitat for Humanity of Towns/
Union County, or help out with the
Georgia Mountain Food Bank. Additional
needs are met through organizations
like NAMI Georgia, PFLAG
Blairsville, Enotah CASA, Open Arms
of Blue Ridge, Georgia Mountains
Hospice and the Glenda Gooch
House.

Classic car
buffs will love the
Blairsville Cruisers
Car Club, which is
known for its monthly
Block Parties and
Cruise-Ins on the
Square. The Good
Neighbors Auto
Club holds its annual Classic Car and
Truck Show in October.
Several veterans’ groups can be
found in the area, including DAV, the
American Legion and VFW. Blairsville
is home to Boy Scout Troop 101,
Cub Scout Pack 101 and the Girl
Scouts Union/Towns Service Unit.
Many local professionals are members
of the Mountain Networking
Referral Group and Tri-State Business
Women. And pet lovers are always
needed to help out at Castoff Pet Rescue,
The Humane Society’s Mountain
Shelter and the Whiskers Project.
VOLUNTEERS ALWAYS NEEDED
You’ll find a big part of what makes
Blairsville-Union County so special is
the generous spirit of our people who
give of their time, talents and resources.
Volunteer opportunities also abound
through many of our local churches.
For more service opportunities,
see the “Clubs/Civic/Nonprofit
Organizations” membership listing
on pages 55-56, or visit Volunteer
Blairsville at www.facebook.com/
VolunteerBlairsville.
Habitat for Humanity volunteers work
on another home for a deserving family.
Another successful Humane Society
Mountain Shelter adoption!
The Rotary Club of Union County and
veterans groups teamed up to build a
wheelchair ramp for a local veteran.
