A Quick Note from the Clinic
Wendy Deen, RN, BSN, OCN - Clinic Operations Manager
I hope all enjoyed the end of year holidays! It is hard to believe
another year has begun, 2018 will be full of change as we move
forward at Moffitt. I would like to take a moment to thank everyone
who welcomed me to the clinic as your new Clinic Operations
Manager. I would also like to congratulate Dianne Johnsen on her
retirement and thank her for her 31 years of service at Moffitt
Cancer Center.
We welcome many new members to the Neurosurgical clinic team.
Ralene Simpkins has two years of oncology experience and nine
years of nursing experience. Prior to her time at Moffitt, she
worked in adult emergency and inpatient psychiatry. Ralene
is originally from Mississippi and is the mother of an amazing
three- year old daughter who is currently learning her letters
and beginning to write; mom is also working on improving her
writing so her daughter can read her writing as well! Ralene is
also a Zumba fanatic.
Vance Borland comes to us with more than 25 years of nursing
expertise – 13 of those at Moffitt. Before joining us, he was a
member of Moffitt’s Endoscopy/Procedure Area and prior to
that a proud member of the BMT nursing team. Vance rides a
motorcycle; loves playing guitar and ukulele. He lives on the
Hillsborough River and enjoys canoeing. I think we should
schedule a performance soon!
Alex Montayre, Research Coordinator for Total Cancer Care,
worked at Tampa General Hospital for four years in the Inpatient
Rehabilitation Therapy department as a patient care technician
working with traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients before joining
Moffitt. He graduated USF in the spring of 2017 with a bachelor’s
degree in Health Sciences concentrated on health management.
He is currently weighing his options for graduate school, with an
interest in applying for a physician assistant (PA) program. When
he’s not working, he enjoys spending time with friends and family,
kayak fishing, running 5k races, and watching movies.
Rolo Morejon; PSS has taken a new position as Clinic Coordination
Assistant in the Head & Neck Clinic. Join me in thanking him for
his more than four years of valued service in the Neuro Clinic.
We wish him well in this new role.
We have many new faces on our PSS team. Please stop up front
and say hello and welcome to Jonathan Del Valle, Taylor Gibson,
Imani Coley, Sarah Stubbs, and Adda Ramos-Pena.
In addition, congratulations go out to Vance Borland, who
celebrates his 13th anniversary at Moffitt on January 3;
Marsha Michel, Medical Assistant as she celebrates her
two-year anniversary at Moffitt on February 22; Anna Palmer,
MA and Tito Rivera, Surgery Scheduler are both celebrating
11 years with Moffitt on February 5. Congrats to all four and
thank you for your excellent work with our patients. I am so
proud you are on our TEAM!
Lastly, I want to acknowledge all of our Neuro Team, including
the Clinic staff, Program staff and providers. I can honestly say
the Neuro team is exceptional! How you value each other and
consistently put your patients first is exceptional. I am grateful
to be a part of the Neuro Team. In big and small ways, we each
contribute to creating successful strides toward the prevention
and cure of cancer. As the Neuro Clinic manager, you make my life
easy and rewarding. Let’s make 2018 a wonderful year together!
