NEW DEVELOPMENTS
The Cler of Court office isn’t always
business as usual. In fact, Colonneso
points out a few exciting changes,
including the Property Alert System they
recently created.
“Citizens can sign up for the system on
our website, and it will alert them when an
instrument is led involving their property,”
she explains. “This measure was taen
in an effort to combat potential fraud. If
a citizen receives a notication, and they
were not aware of any recent transactions,
they can tae action quicly by notifying
law enforcement and taing steps to have
the instrument removed from their record.”
In other news, the office’s records
retention is going digital. “Manatee
County has taen the lead in developing
an electronic records retention module in
order to meet the retention schedules for
electronic records,” she says.
Speaing of digital, the Cler of Court
ofce is also putting the nal touches
on its brand-new website. “The website
needed an upgrade, and we are close
to completing our new Court Records
Search module,” she says. “We expect
the new website design to be released
by the end of the year.”
Additionally, the ofce’s Child Support
Division has begun a quarterly outreach
with the Boys and irls Club. “Our
staff visits the Boys and irls Club and
meets with parents who wish to as
them questions regarding child support
matters,” remars Colonneso. “This saves
time for woring parents when we are able
to meet them in the community after hours
when they pic up their children.”
Last but not least, Colonneso has plans to
open ioss north of the river and in east
Manatee County to mae it easier for people
to pay their nes, trafc citations and child
support payments. “This will save someone
a trip to the courthouse, and they can go at
a time convenient for their schedule,” she
points out. “We currently have one in our
lobby for those who choose to forego the
metal detector screening process at the
entrance to the Historic Courthouse.”
BORN & RAISED IN MANATEE
As a lifelong resident of Manatee County,
Colonneso has strong roots in this
community. “Because I grew up here, I
have an appreciation for the history of
Manatee County,” she says.
“The county has changed a great deal - I
remember a time when State Road 70
was a two-lane dirt road and nothing but
trees as far as the eye can see and there
was no Interstate 75,” she recalls. “As a
child on trips to the beach, I remember
we would see amingos near Palma Sola
Causeway. People don’t believe that we
had amingos freely waling around near
the island, but we did.”
Today, outside of wor, Colonneso
spends a lot of time training her erman
Shepherd puppy. “I would lie to raise her
to understand erman commands and
maybe someday use her as a therapy
dog,” she says. “We are a long way from
that day, but she is denitely an ongoing
project for me.”
Colonneso also enjoys exercising
outdoors at every opportunity, and she
volunteers as a Tae Stoc in Children
mentor. “I also enjoy my family very
much,” she adds. “I lie to spend time
with my niece and two nephews.”
Although she savors her time away from
wor, Colonneso genuinely appreciates
her role as the Cler of Court. “I thoroughly
enjoy what I do,” she enthuses. “I have a
passion for this job.”
