LIVING WELL IN OVERTON COUNTY
Livingston-Overton County
is in the beginning stages of a
new program “Spark OC…Living
Well in Livingston-Overton
County” … This program is part
of the Governor’s “Healthier
Tennessee” movement. Which
encourages people from all walks
of life across Tennessee to band
together to improve their health.
It brings together a statewide
coalition of employers, health
insurers, hospital systems, local
governments, school systems,
healthcare-focused foundations,
and community organizations
to affect positive, measurable
change.
The Healthier Tennessee
initiative strives to increase the
number of citizens who are
physically active for at least 30
minutes five times a week, promote
a healthy diet, and reduce
the number of people who use
tobacco.
In Livingston-Overton
County, we are committed to
taking a holistic view of our community,
recognizing that “everything
is connected to everything”
and “the whole is more than the
sum of its parts”. Our initiatives
are multi-sectoral collaborations
that integrate social, economic
and environmental goals to
benefit the whole community
and strengthen community capacity
to promote and sustain
health. We will be offering Tai
Chi Classes this summer at Central
Park Livingston, as well as
other programs throughout the
year…There are numerous parks
throughout the community.
Central Park Livingston offers a
playground, exercise equipment,
splash pad, and grassy lawn
where you can enjoy nature and
exercise at the same time…We
are committed to trying to help
improve the quality of life in Livingston
Overton County…
Our strategy is that you can
help improve the health of our
community by looking at your
health and the health of your
family. Take actions to ensure
that you are as healthy as possible.
Before an emergency, if you
eat well, get regular checkups and
vaccinations, and are physically
active, your body will be better
able to handle the stress and
physical demands of recovering
from a disaster. Washing your
hands regularly can also help reduce
your chances of getting sick
during and after an emergency.
Help promote health in
Livingston-Overton County by
becoming more engaged in our
community. Act to improve our
community’s health now…to
ensure you are better prepared to
remain healthy when an emergency
occurs. Become part of the
movement…Sign up NOW..
