AFTER
SCHOOL
WORDS & PICTURES: Carlee Colonneso
Carlee Colonneso is a wife, and stay at home mother of three. She is a graduate of the University of South Florida and author
of funlearninglife.com. Her website is a lifestyle blog that centers on family, crafts, recipes, and frugal living.
Now that school is back in session, the usual routines
are starting to gear back up again such as piano and
tumbling lessons, sport’s practices, along with the
evening homework responsibilities. I know that my children
missed seeing their friends, teachers, as well as coaches, so I
am happy that they are back to doing what they love. Plus, I know
that their brains were ready for stimulation through math and
science, along with mastering their new artistic and athletic skills.
Of course, this is a bittersweet time for Mom because my kids
are growing up so fast, and it is truly hard to believe that my
youngest is going into kindergarten. I am already missing those
summer days that my husband and I shared with the kids on a
family road trip, hanging out at the pool, outside playing in the
yard, as well as gardening.
I do realize, though, that there are only so many hours in the day.
However, it isn’t always about the quantity, it is more important
about the quality of the time that we have when we are together.
Because of this, the kids and I started brainstorming activities
that we could do during the evenings that they have enjoyed
in the past. Now we could just say that we were going to do
these things, but we tend to commit when we make it easy to
implement. After writing down all the ideas, we transformed
them into a simple AFTER SCHOOL craft to help us continue to
create quality moments throughout the year. See how we set-up
this activity below!
What you will need: Jumbo craft sticks, Marker, Plastic cup,
Paper, Pencil
Tip: You can use plain or colorful jumbo craft sticks.
