Self Care for the Selfles
by Amanda Gerber
I am fully aware of my audience that reads this magazine:
taking care of ourselves until everyone and everything
else is taken care of properly. We’ve got to stop this. Now,
got a husband and 4 kids at home that I love to serve, but a
few months ago I realized I was doing them a disservice by
dismissing myself.
I was going nonstop, and I was running on too little sleep
sister, and my friends kept sending me the same message,
myself. It starts with the basics, and most of this may not
seem like any new information, but once you really take
the time to implement these practices, you’ll be amazed
at the results.
Nutrition: If you’ve got kids in school, you know what
that end-of-school-year-madness looks like in your home.
had found I was skipping meals, forgetting to drink enough
water, and not having my daily green smoothie. We’ve
got to make sure our nutrition is solid (get those greens
in, y’all!), we drink enough water (half your body weight
in ounces), and we’re not skipping meals. If we’re missing
this foundational element, it’s almost as if we’re sending
a message to our body that we don’t think we’re worth it.
Let’s change that message, because we a worth it!
Sleep: This is another basic piece of the whole picture.
night (and, ok, maybe if you’re in your early 20s you can.
