Mr. & Mrs. Sorrells
On June 16, 2018, Hunter and Brette began their lives together
4 - Coastal Wedding Connections - Summer 2018
one night and Hunter was acting super weird the whole day. I just
thought he was being his goofy self because he was excited to go out
or something. He went outside for something and was talking on the
phone and then came back inside after 20 minutes and was antsy.
I was still kind of blind to what was going on, but he kept looking
at me and laughing. If you know Hunter, he always laughs when
he is nervous. We got ready to go and as we are walking to my
car I noticed something written on the driver door…it said “MARRY
ME!!!” on the driver door in my car dirt. It was the cutest thing and
as I turned around to look at him, he was already down on one
knee with the ring in hand. He had taken all of his grandmother’s
diamonds out of her ring and made a ring specifically for me, which
made it even more special!
BEST PART OF PLANNING YOUR WEDDING: I guess the best
part was picturing how it was all going to come together. At one
point I thought that I had too much stuff that was going to be there,
but it was perfect. When we got all of the RSVP, I knew it was going
to be a party because everyone we knew was going to be there to
celebrate with us.
HOW DID YOU MEET: Hunter and I have known each other since
we were little kids and the first time we ever met was on a hunt with
our dads. Our families were good friends, knew the same people
etc. We never really thought about the whole dating scene until we
were 22 & 23 yrs old when Hunter was working for my dad and
came over to the house almost every day. I was in college at the
time so every time I came home I would see him quiet often.
FIRST DATE: Our first date was in New Braunfels, Texas at the Olive
Garden because we both LOVE Olive Garden which is basically the
key to my heart. He came up to visit me in Seguin where I was
going to school.
WHEN DID YOU KNOW THEY WERE THE ONE FOR YOU?
BRIDE: I knew from the beginning that he was the one just because
we knew the same people, my family loved him, we both wanted the
same things in life and we both love doing the same things, which
makes it even better.
GROOM: It was a year after we started dating when my
grandmother pulled me aside one day and asked if I thought Brette
was the one. I told her I could see us going a long way and when
that was said, my grandmother showed me her wedding ring she
wanted me to give Brette one day. That’s when I knew it was real
and that I was going to spend the rest of my life with her.
WHO PROPOSED & HOW: Hunter and I had gone to Seguin for
the weekend a year after I graduated college. We stayed at my
parent’s river place to just relax and hang out with some friends.
We were watching TV and planned on going out with our friends
