FAMILY FUN
• Just Jersey Fest is rolling into Elmwood
Park on Sept. 22 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Elmwood
Park Food Truck & Music Festival, to be
held at 500 Mola Boulevard, Elmwood Park, will
consist of 20 gourmet food trucks, three bands
and a beer and sangria garden. Bring your appetites,
lawn chairs and blankets. Admission is
free. No pets allowed. Attendees are asked to
bring a non-perishable canned or boxed item
to help support the food pantry.
• The Bergen County Fall Festival is scheduled
for Sept. 28-30 at Van Saun County Park,
216 Forest Ave., Paramus. On Friday from 6-9
p.m., enjoy food, rides, entertainment and opening
night fireworks. On Saturday and Sunday,
enjoy exhibits, a craft fair and entertainment
from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and midway, rides and
food from 12-10 p.m. The festival will also include
a farmer’s market, animals, music, face
painting, pumpkin picking, food trucks, 4-H Master
Gardener exhibits and hands-on activities.
• Zoo Boo will take place on Oct. 26 and
Oct. 27 (with a rain date of Oct. 28) at the
Bergen County Zoo, 216 Forest Ave., Paramus.
The Zoo Boo attracts families with children of
all ages from all over northern New Jersey and
New York. Last year, attendance was more than
6,000 people. In addition to trick-or-treating, a
ghostly storyteller and a magician will entertain
guests. The Erie Express, a friendly train ride
during the day and a haunted ride at night, will
be offered. Tickets: $6 each for ages 2 and up.
RAISE FUNDS
• The 9th Annual Behind the Seams Fashion
Show to benefit Eva’s Village will take place on
Oct. 2 from 5:30-10 p.m. at the Bottagra Restaurant
in Hawthorne. The “Behind the Seams” Fashion
Show is an event not to be missed! Guests
will enjoy a lavish cocktail hour, gourmet tasting
stations, live and silent auctions and a tented runway
show featuring fall/winter fashions from Sal
Lauretta for Men and Boutique 811. This annual
event attracts nearly 400 guests and raises over
$175,000 each year to support the many programs

• The Seventh Annual AIR Express Golf Outing
to honor Dr. Dante Implicito, M.D. for his
service to Hackensack University Medical Center
will be held on Oct. 15 at Arcola Country
Club, 24 Paramus Road, Paramus. The special
guest is Harry Carson, retired N.Y. Giant linebacker.
A free putting clinic starts at 10:30 a.m.
with retired PGA golf pro Ozzie Carlson. Golf
outing tickets are $550 each or $240 for dinner
only per person. Foursomes are available for
$2,200, which includes brunch/lunch,
dinner/open bar, prizes, use of driving range and
locker room and 18 holes of golf. All proceeds
benefit the AIR Express mobile asthma bus, now

• Bergen United Way is hosting “A Very Special
Night Gala” on March 28, 2019 at the Edgewood
Country Club from 6-10 p.m. Each year
United Way hosts this very special evening in celebration
of their Very Special Housing. Their tenants
will be the stars of a Broadway spectacular
lead by celebrity chorographer and Broadway
star Judine Somerville that will bring to life the
meaning of their work. Guests will also enjoy specialty
cocktails and libations, unique silent auction
prizes and a dinner-style cocktail hour at the
newly-remodeled chic Edgewood Country Club.

• Park Ridge Elks presents The Flying Ivories,
two performers on two pianos that deliver an allrequest,
rock and roll sing-along that’s part music,

RUN A RACE
• Don’t miss Your First Mud Run at Fair Lawn!
Your First Mud Run is the only mud run in the
country designed so both parents and kids can
run together. Our courses are 1 ½ to 2 miles and
include 10-16 obstacles that are designed for
adults and kids. Anyone 6 years old and up can
participate in the fun. The mud run will take place
on Sept. 23 at 10 a.m. at Fair Lawn Memorial Pool

• The Mark Sammitt 5K Run will take place

PHILANTHROPIC
•Women United in Philanthropy, New Jersey’s
first women’s giving circle dedicated to the
economic empowerment of women, will host
a fall gathering on Oct. 17 from 6-9:30 p.m. at
Stony Hill Inn in Hackensack. The fall gathering
serves as the circle’s annual meeting and grant
award event. This inspiring evening includes a
cocktail buffet, remarks from a celebrity guest
speaker and the awarding of high-impact grant
to a local nonprofit.
WATCH A PARADE
• The Old Tappan Fire Department will present
the 64th Annual Northern Valley Fire Chief’s
Parade on Oct. 7. Line-up time is 11 a.m. with a 1
p.m. step off at T. Baldwin Demarest School, 1
School St., Old Tappan. Join the Old Tappan Fire
Department and their neighboring agencies from
the Northern Valley, Pascack Valley and Rockland
County as they compete to show off their equipment,
apparatus and dedicated members. After
the parade, all are welcome to return to the Old
Tappan Firehouse for music, refreshments and the
awarding trophies to competing departments.
