Winter Wonderland Terrarium
You can make a terrarium for any season, so we
chose a winter scene for this craft. Bundle up, gather
some wintertime treasures from your yard, and let’s
get creative!
Materials:
• glass jar with screw on lid • cotton balls • small twig,
acorns, nuts, tiny pine cones, any natural finds • hot
glue • paint brushes • paint, any color. (I chose white
and gold.) •white glitter • small accent piece, maybe
a tiny animal, a lego creation, any type of figurine.
Instructions:
Paint the small twig, pine cones, nuts, and
outdoor treaures white.
Sprinkle the wet paint with white glitter quickly
before it dries.
Paint the plastic or porcelain accent piece; let
the paint dry.
Glue the cotton balls to the inside of the lid for
a snowy base.
Glue the twig
as the central
tree and use the
other natural
finds as accents.
Glue securely.
Sprinkle the
glitter to the
inside of the
jar as a gentle
snow fall.
Screw on
the lid on and
decorate your
warm home
with this Winter
Wonderland! ☐
Mystic Cottage
Named after the Mystic River behind Tuft’s
home up North and built in 1899 by Mr. James
Tufts for his son Leonard, the Mystic Cottage
prominently dwells on Magnolia Road in the
Village. Designed by architects Kendal, Taylor, and
Stevens of Boston who designed the Pinehurst
Hotel, the Mystic houses 14 rooms on 2 levels
accented with dormers and a wrap around porch.
In April 3, 1913, the Mystic was sold to Mrs.
Robert Hunter and thus began the revolution of
many owners over the years. As beautiful as ever,
the Mystic on Magnolia oversees Village life.
