Stephanie M. Anuszewski, MPAS ’00, a
physician assistant in the department of
dermatology, received a 2017-2018 UF
Superior Accomplishment Award for the
academic health center colleges. The UF-wide
program recognizes faculty and staff who have
“shown efficiency or economy in their work,
have contributed outstanding and meritorious
service, or who have improved the quality
of life provided to students and employees.”
Winners are nominated by supervisors, peers
or patients.
John Evans, PhD ’76, was appointed to the
University of Vermont Medical Center Board
of Trustees to serve a four-year term. Evans is
a senior adviser to the president and provost
of the University of Vermont and professor
emeritus of the Robert Larner, MD, College of
Medicine. He is also president of the Vermont
Technology Council.
Steven L. Kanter, MD, HS ’87, became president
and CEO of the Association of Academic Health
Centers and the Association of Academic Health
Centers International on July 1, appointed by
the AAHC Board of Directors. Kanter completed
a neurosurgery residency at the UF College of
Medicine in 1987.
Amy Pollack, MD ’82, FACOG, FACPM, became
director of Maternal, Newborn & Child Health
at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation on
May 7. Pollack, board-certified in obstetrics
and gynecology and preventative medicine,
will oversee global teams dedicated to saving
the lives of women, children and babies.
