“Wherever the art of
medicine is loved, there is
also a love of humanity.”
— Hippocrates
Receiving a stethoscope during the first year of medical training is not only a rite of
passage at the UF College of Medicine; it’s a vote of confidence from its alumni. Since
2002, alumni have donated toward the purchase of more than 1,700 stethoscopes,
presented to first-year medical students during the annual stethoscope ceremony.
2018 marked the first year that students at the UF School of Physician Assistant
Studies received stethoscopes. The 62 instruments, presented to the class of 2020 on
June 28, were engraved with a Gator head and funded by alumni contributions to the
PA Alumni Fund.
