Ella Schober has won the Senator’s
Choice Award for her drawing of
Bass Pro. For three consecutive years,
Nixa has won the Senator’s Choice
Award during Senate Art Exhibit
between the Missouri Alliance for
Arts Education and the Missouri Art
Education Association sponsored by
Senator David Pearce. This exhibit is
located on the grounds of the Capitol.
Nixa High School was named as an AP
Honor Roll School for the third year
in a row. There were only six total in
Missouri this year and were fewer last
year. In addition the AP Honor Roll, Nixa
High School will start to off er the AP
Capstone Diploma Program in the fall
of 2019. The diploma program focuses
on college-level research, collaboration,
and presentation skills crucial for
college and career success. Nixa High
School is one of approximately 1,800
schools worldwide to implement the AP
Capstone™ Diploma program.

Nixa High School Speech and
Debate took their team to
Kansas City for the Liberty
invitational, which is
the largest invitational
tournament in the state.
There were 58 high
schools represented.
Sophie Jackson
competed in
several events
and placed fi rst
in United States
Extemporaneous
speaking.
Dr. Jennifer Chastain, principal
of JTSD, was awarded the
Transformational Leadership Award
from Missouri State University.
This award is given to dedicated
leaders who shine in the areas of
progressive, future-ready learning.
