The City of Jacksonville Mosquito Control Division expects an
increase in mosquitoes, usually one week after a major storm
control while protecting public health and the environment.
Follow these tips to protect yourself from mosquitoes after
a storm:
• Cover bare skin with insect repellent
• Wear long sleeves and pants when
outside
• Consider staying indoors
• Check and repair screens on
windows and doors
• Drain standing water to prevent
mosquito breeding sites
• Remove debris and water from rain gutters and
downspouts
