Be Still…
Have you ever thought about what that means? We live in a time fame where the whole world is in a hurry, but my question is why?
Why do we rush around like everything is an emergency? Why do we sign up for so many extra activities? When did coming home
from work and school stop being enough? I remember when every neighborhood had kids playing outside after doing their homework,
and family time wasn’t something you had to “make time” to do. Supper was around the table, and cleaning the kitchen was a family
affair or a time when the older kids in the family would clean dishes in between laughing and popping one another with a dish towel!
It’s time for us, as a nation, to learn to be still. To be purposeful about unplugging from the world. To intentionally be in the moment.
If you are wondering what that means or what that looks like, chances are you are extended, and most likely looking at your phone too
much.
When was the last time you were still and watched a sunrise or sunset? Chances are if you’ ve done that recently, you remember it.
Chances are half the things you look at on Facebook or Instagram you don’t remember. Life was meant to be lived with a purpose. Not
going through the motions day after day. Being still allows you to “be in the moment”.
When we learn to be “in the moment” that’s the place where memories are made. Those are the moments when you “really see” and
hear others. When you begin to concentrate on the simple things in life, that’s when you will realize that those moments really are the
things that matter most.
Don’t put off another sunrise or sunset, dance in the kitchen with the one you love, twirling your little girl or throwing the baseball.
Don’t put off spending time with grandparents, parents, kids, siblings and friends. Try every day to “really see” people around you.
Sometimes a smile to a stranger means more than you know. We all have a part to play in this world. Not just in our own lives, but the
lives of those around us. My prayer is that we will all take the time to be still and be blessed by the
moments and the memories we will make!
Until Next Time,
Love One Another
