Academic
Hall of
Fame
Nixa Public Schools has had an Academic Hall of Fame for over 20
years to recognize and highlight graduates from Nixa High School who
have gone on to be successful after leaving Nixa as a way to reward their efforts and also
provide an example and inspiration to current Nixa students.
Nominees are submitted to the district and up to two people are inducted each year by a
committee comprised of teachers, administrators, and community members.
Dr. Erica (Corcoran) Mahn is a graduate of the class of 2006. Dr. Mahn left Nixa and
graduated from the University of Missouri- Kansas City with a Doctorate in Pharmacy in
2012.
Currently, Dr. Mahn works as the Director of Retail and Clinical Pharmacy at Alps
Pharmacy in Springfield. Throughout college she worked in Kansas City with students
who were at-risk throughthe Jumpstart program.
She volunteered as a pharmacist at
a free clinic in Branson to provide
medication to patients who did not
have access. In her current position,
she works to increase the level of
care patients are able to access by
working to connect different
providers and caregivers to ensure
that everyone is able to live their
healthiest life.
Dr. Mahn also wants works to give back to the next generation of
pharmacists. She works as an instructor to pharmacy students and is known
as a great teacher and mentor for those that work with her.
Her work has not gone unnoticed. In 2018, Dr. Mahn was received the
"Pharmacist Making a Difference Award" from the Missouri Pharmacists
Association.
Jeff Allen, a graduate of the class of 1989. Mr. Allen left Nixa and graduated
from Missouri State University with a degree in accounting.
Mr. Allen has been employed by BKD for 25 years and has been a partner at
BKD for 14 years. He heads BKD’s Community Health Center practice
nationally.
Mr. Allen is involved with the choir boosters, Ozarks Health Advocacy
Foundation, and the Doula Foundation. He has also served on the Nixa
Education Foundation board for seven years, five of which have been as
president.
Mr. Allen has been a driving force in the expansion of NEF and challenged the
organization to have assets in excess of $250,000 and for the organization to
become an independent 501c3. Both of those have now been accomplished.
For his accomplishments and work, Mr. Allen was named to Springfield
Business Journal’s "40 Under 40" in 2009 and "Men of the Year" in 2019.
