The physical Christ was brought forth
without labor and the pain of childbirth,
but the birth of Mary’s mystical
children would make her the Mother
of Sorrows. Jesus cannot be understood
without Mary, and Mary is meaningless
without Jesus. In the Blessed Sacrament,
Jesus demands true devotion to Mary.
The Church has sanctioned a special
Feast and Mass to honor Mary under
the title Mediatrix of All Graces on
May 31.
From the moment Mary gave her
consent to the mystery of the Incarnation
until She stood transfixed with suffering
beneath the Cross of her dying Son, Mary
participated in the whole redemptive
ministry of Christ. God Himself willed
to depend on her FIAT. Mary willed
to share with Him the suffering and
ignominy entailed in the redemption
of mankind. She would give of her
substance the flesh that would be
crucified and the blood that would
flow on Calvary. Mary suffered so closely
with Christ for our sins that the two
were crucified on one cross. Mary
contributed substantially and truly
to our redemption so far as it was
possible in her capacity as a creature
to contribute anything divine. Mary’s
collaboration with Christ continues
not only in Heaven, but also in all the
Tabernacles in the world wherein
we have a sacramental extension of
the Mysteries of the Incarnation and
Redemption.
So long as Christ must be immolated,
Mary must conceive and bring forth,
and sacrifice though the manner is
shrouded in mystery. Mary is the
dispenser and distributor of every
grace which comes to us because
Christ so wills! The Sacred Heart,
which still beats with Divine Mercy
and Love in every Tabernacle of the
world, and pours out graces upon His
mystical members, was formed solely
and wholly from the body and heart
of Mary. Christ wills that the gifts
of His Heart come to us through the
Immaculate Heart of Mary. By the
power of Christ, Mary effects all grace
in us through the Holy Spirit.
The practice of true devotion to Mary
will lead to a more ardent and constant
devotion to the Eucharist. Mary will
always lead souls to Jesus, especially
to Him in the Blessed Sacrament. Jesus
will always lead souls to Mary. If we
try to separate the one from the other,
even in devotion, we go contrary to the
divine plan, which has united them
from all eternity. The devil will do all
he can to prevent true devotion to
Jesus and Mary because he knows that
in this lies not only our salvation, but
also our highest supernatural perfection.
Devotion to Mary is so intrinsically
and inseparably united with devotion
to the Eucharist that they seem almost
one. To say it does not, is to have a
false conception of Marian teaching.
Union with the Blessed Trinity is the
essence of the beatitude in Heaven, as
it is the apex of dogma and devotion
on earth. We cannot reach God except
through the order divinely established:
Through and with Jesus and Mary.
