raceme and continues toward

Overall habit of False Indigo: False Indigo
is a large, fast-growing, multi-trunked,
deciduous shrub, reaching 6-10’ in
height and spread. Spring flowering and
attractive foliage throughout the summer
and early fall. Found throughout Florida
as far south as Broward and Collier
Counties, it occurs naturally near
wetlands but adapts readily to averagemoist
soils. Tolerates full sun and will
adapt to shade (fewer blooms). Provides
cover for birds and other wildlife. Photo:

Summer Azure butterfly on False Indigo:
False Indigo attracts many pollinators and
is a larval host plant for Southern Dogface
and Silver-Spotted Skipper butterflies.
