BEARS BUSY FAMILY
Birth to 3 • By Stella Blackstone
The story incorporates the ve senses sight, hearing, taste,
touch, and smell to describe each of Bear’s family members
and the activities they like to do around the house. The message
in the book would make for a great bedtime story or to spark
conversation about your child’s family tree. A great way to
have these conversations could be asking your child, can you
use your five senses to
describe the members of
your family What activities
do your family members like
to do How is your family tree
similar or different from Bear’s
family tree Family is an
essential part of all children’s
lives, and it’s important to
understand the relationships
between people.
Bear Feels ll
Cowgirl Kate and Cocoa,
Rain or Shine
- • By Erica Silverman
Cocoa doesn’t follow Kate’s advice of using a raincoat
because he thinks it looks silly, so he decides to go
out and play in the cold rain without protection. Cocoa
realizes after he gets cold and wet that going out in
the rain without a raincoat was a mistake! The second
story, Chasing the Rainbow, is an excellent story about
Kate and Cocoa enjoying a perfect day after the rain
stops. Together, they enjoy every tiny detail of their
horseback ride from how the air smells to how sweet
the grass tastes after the rain. Finishing with a great
ending, Cocoa learns that it is impossible to get to the
end of the rainbow. It is a perfect combination of two
short stories and could be the perfect starting point
for a child that is ready to start reading chapter books!

This story is great to read to your children during the cold and
u season because it teaches them how to take care of their
bodies when they are sick, and how to take care of others too.
This book teaches a valuable lesson of caring for others. Just
when Bear began feeling better, thanks to the help of his caring
friends, his friends
became sick too.
Bear returned the
favor and was able to
help take care of all
the friends that took
care of him. It is a
heartwarming story
of kindness and a
perfect teaching
story with amazing
warm illustrations.
