Meet Bates Leather Company
by Rebekah King
Nestled under the giant oaks of a family
farm in Robbins, lies a little leather shop
outback. One can see the lights shining from
the windows well into most evenings as
husband and wife duo Tracy and Kim Bates
live their passion of “Embracing Creativity,
Reflecting the Image of God,” at family owned
Bates Leather Company. Celebrating 10 years
in creating custom leather goods, the Bates
family seeks to be a service to our community.
“Whether a local needs a custom leather
product, a family heirloom leather piece
repaired, or handmade leather goods of any
sort, then we want them to know that Bates
Leather Company is here for them,” informs
Tracy Bates.

The Gift of Pinehurst

Our Hearts are the Same
by Rebekah King
Although born in Charlotte, NC, local
author Jennifer Paschal Thomas’ family legacy
remains centered in Moore County. Sharing
weekends and sweet summertime with her
Grandma in Carthage were the highlights
of Thomas’ childhood! With her heritage
recording so much local history, Thomas’
Grandfather Buck Underwood was Carthage’s
dentist serving from the courthouse circle,
for his entire life; his dental chair is in the
Carthage Museum.

A Gift for All Seasons
by Joe Granato
What a crazy year! A year that started like
any other year but one that has certainly
turned out quite differently than the rest. As
we have been limited in our travels, our homes
have become our top priority. Remodeling
parts of our home has become the thing this
year and making them a place of both safety
and enjoyment currently holds our focus. Our
landscape is no different.
Building a Culture that
Aligns with People’s Values
Linda M. Parsons, IOM, CCEC
Covid-19 made our entire world come to
a complete pause in 2020. People adjusted to
working from home while balancing teaching
their children remotely. Businesses adapted
by creating websites to mangage both on-line
sales and delivery services while individuals
adjusted the number of trips to the store for
essential items.
