Meet the Bates
Tracy & Kim Bates, Owners of Bates Leather
Co, share thoughts as they are "Embracing
Creativity, Reflecting the Image of God."
Advice for others following their dreams?
Tracy: Find your niche and embrace your
creativity. Grab it and go for it. You don’t know
until you try.
Kim: Nowadays you can learn just about
anything on the Internet. All the information is
available if you have the will to find it. Pursue
your interests; know dreams come true!
What do you wish you would have
known starting off that you know now?
Tracy: I wish I would have known a little
more about the business side of things. We’re
definitely still learning.
How would you summarize life? Life is?
Tracy: You cannot get anything good back
if you don’t put something in! You have to
put in the hard work, and I’ve learned a lot of
patience through the process.
Kim: God still answers prayers! Something
you may think is impossible...God just works
it out. Now that our children are older, the
timing is right. I don’t know if we could have
done this when our kids were little.
Local favorites?
Tracy: The Chicken Hut. There ain’t no
other place! My favorite thing on the menu is
the marinated grilled chicken sub.
Kim: The marinated grilled chicken sub
from the Chicken Hut is delicious.
What does it mean to support local?
Tracy: This is the most pivotal point we’ve
MEET THE BATES con't. next column
MEET THE BATES continued
ever been at in supporting local. Now more
than ever, we need to focus on local businesses
and support them. We would love to be able
to open a little shop downtown and be able to
offer bridles, saddles, and things like that in
addition to our other goods.
Moore County is?
Tracy: Home. We love Moore County and
wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. We love
our little town of Robbins.
Kim: Robbins is a very caring community
and very supportive of our products. They’re
good customers, and they are very gracious
with us because they know we work full time. ☐
