Needless to say, this is a rapidly evolving situation, and now many countries are going 5G
without any involvement from Huawei or any other groups that harvest information. Some
people still don’t believe that, though, hence the suspicion and conspiracy theories created
from 5G’s existence.
The most basic information about 5G is that it is the “fi fth generation” of mobile networks:
We started out at 1G and worked our way up. 5G is capable of speeds up to 20 gigabits
per second, compared to 4G which can only deliver about 50 megabits per second on a
good day (by the way, “bits” are much smaller than “bytes,” with eight bits fi tting into each
byte). When 5G becomes commonplace in our country, it is alleged it will connect virtually
everyone and everything together, including machine, objects, devices and people.
Right now, though, unless you have the most current version of iPhone or Android products
and your carrier offers 5G, you’re probably running on the third or fourth generation of
mobile networks. Many people who have phones and services running 5G fi nd that it is still
