Do not expect anything from
anyone else, not even from me.
This is a fundamental principle in
deen and dunya. Whoever follows
this principle would be free from
sorrow and worries.
– Maulana Rasheed Ahmed
Gangohi, Malfoozat e Kamalat e
Ashrafiyya, p. 180
A lover does not care if his act was
fruitful or not or if his deed brings
him success or not. He merely
devotes himself in the service of his Beloved, only out of
his sheer love, whether he attains success or not.
– Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanawi
Malfoozat e Kamalat e Ashrafiyya, p. 58
Ah! What has happened to the people of this Umma these
days? They claim to love the Prophet a while they smash
his sayings. Rasulullah a had prohibited pictures (of animate
objects) in houses. Angels of mercy do not enter places
in which there are animate images. Today, every house
of the Ummati has pictures hanging in them, but they are
the foremost in claiming love for Rasulullah a. What kind
of love goes hand in hand with this disobedience? Is this
the very right of love?
– Maulana Hakim Akhter
Fughan e Akhter, p. 120
Superficial knowledge is not the ultimate goal. The real aim
is to attain a firm connection with Allah and to cultivate His
love. Knowledge is like a vessel, the content of which is this
love. Seeking superficial knowledge while neglecting the
pursuit of Allah’s love is akin to buying empty bottles of
perfume and not filling them with perfume. Tell me, what
would be the price of such empty bottles? The value of the
bottles is based on the content of the bottles.

Fughan e Akhter, p. 384
O my dears! Read Shama’il-e- Tirmidhi in depth (a book
regarding the physical characteristics and Sunna of Rasulullah
a). At least, regard the Sunna you cannot follow as
virtuous from the bottom of your heart and (think) that, in
reality, we should have carried out these (Sunna) acts, but
due to our weakness and lack of perseverance, are not able
to do so. O my dear friends, at least spend one Ramadan in
a manner that it should be spent. Only a few days are left,
attain the maximum benefit out
of it. Practice the Sunna as much
you can. My uncle (Maulana Ilyas)
had advised me to follow the Sunna
and had ordered me to instruct
my friends to do so as well.
– Shaykh al-hadith Maulana
Zakariya, Malfoozat e Hazrat
Shaykh, p. 47
My friends! Never think how
much progress the world is making.
True progress is in following
Rasulullah a. The Sahaba l used to strike their spears on
the carpets of the kings, reminding them that their worldly
things had absolutely no value in their hearts. To the
contrary, our state of affairs is the opposite. Our hearts are
filled with the value of this world and nothing else. Thus,
we have dishonored ourselves to the lowest level. Remove
the love of this world from your hearts and then you will
see what happens.
– Shaykh al-hadith Maulana Zakariya
Malfoozat e Hazrat Shaykh, p. 114
Leave the acts that give no benefit. Whoever follows this
will experience the sweetness of this life; he will attain the
benefits of this world and the Hereafter. Useless pursuits
ruin time.
– Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanawi
(Malfoozat e Kamalat e Ashrafiyya, p. 181
The first and foremost requisite of attaining knowledge
is that the person reflects on his own life, understands his
own shortcomings, and works on the remedy. However,
on the contrary, if he starts investigating and pointing out
the faults of others through his knowledge, then he would
fall into arrogance and this is detrimental for the people of
knowledge.
