In the city that never sleeps, Friday
It’s the sacred shift where business
fronts are neatly filed away and party
backs in tossing out ties and loosens
the sleeves of a hard week. Many
blow off the steam of a stressful
week by luxuriating at a country club,
or heading straight for happy hour.
But what about the man who runs
one of the most notable real estate
phenomena, the Trump Organization,
Donald Trump Jr.?
To see Don Jr. in the city past that
magical strike of end of business
is rarer than some of the species
he’s hunted. You won’t find him in
Manhattan – or sipping one. And the
only country you’ll find him at is the
one with thick vegetation where he
can easily conceal himself within
nature and be with his family at their
Catskills cabin.
Don Jr. is extreme about his passion
for the outdoors. Even with a heavy
schedule as Executive Vice President
at the Trump Organization, he
always makes the time to spend out
experiencing God’s creations. His
grandfather passed down the heritage
of hunting and fishing to Don Jr. as he
spent most of his childhood summers
with him in then-Czechoslovakia.
“My grandfather would take me to
Czechoslovakia every summer. He

shoot a bow,
shoot an airgun and how to fish. He
got me into the outdoors,” Don Jr. said.
Those precious summers is where
Don Jr. fostered his avid affection for
the sports and his devotion to the
outdoors has continuously evolved
throughout his life.
Don Jr. is dedicated to preserve the
love for the outdoors in his lineage,
teaching his five children the ropes
of nature. “I don’t want my kids to just
be city kids… I want them to see the
other side. If I can get them off of the
couch and away from video games,
then I am doing them a major service,”
Don Jr. said. Aside from emergencies
and special events, the family has not
spent a single weekend in the city in
over a decade.
As a jack-of-all-trades when it comes
to outdoor sports, Don Jr. has a simple
philosophy when it comes to what
method of fishing he decides to use:
“whatever is working, I’m fishing,”
he said regarding dry flies, nymphs,
streamers, and even worms when
fishing with his kids. “I fish whatever
method I think I’m going to catch the
most fish on.”
But he has a certain affinity for fly
fishing. “There was a time in my life
where I was a fly purest. I would go
