Pianos in Pinellas
Capitol Theatre’s 1st Birthday
Ruth Eckerd Hall held a champagne birthday party to celebrate the first
anniversary of the remodeled Capitol Theatre and its 100th show. Zev
Buffman, CEO of Ruth Eckerd Hall, welcomed the audience and shared
amusing anecdotes before introducing Frank Hibbard, who spearheaded
the City’s support of the Theatre while he was the Mayor of Clearwater.
The celebration was followed by an entertaining performance by the
multitalented Ben Vereen, who thanked the audience for their support of
the arts.
Teresa HIbbard congratulated her husband Frank for his vision
and efforts to get the City of Clearwater behind the renovation
of The Capitol Theatre while he was Mayor.
Dunedin Art
Center’s Donors
Sarah Gamble and her parents
Chip and past board president
Gail Gamble, who generously
gave to the Center’s Creative
Vision, were honored for the
naming of the Gamble Family
Gallery in the Art Center’s new
addition.
The Dunedin Fine Art Center held a ceremony to honor the donors who
contributed to its Creative Vision 2014, which further expanded the evergrowing
Center. By creating educational experiences in the visual arts, the
Dunedin Fine Art Center has become the premier art center in the state by
providing unparalleled educational, cultural and creative experiences through
the arts.
Hands
4 Hope
To benefit Hands 4 Hope that
enriches children in need, Beverly
and Carlos Yepes and Maureen and
Butch Kolan held a reception in the
Yepes penthouse. The organization
empowers young people to make
a positive difference in the world
around them through action and
leadership. They serve students from
kindergarten through twelfth grade
who want to volunteer to work
hands-on with those in need.
Liz Smith sat at the piano she decorated, which was
placed in Clearwater’s Ruth Eckerd Hall for the art and
music project, “Pianos in Pinellas,” by the Clearwater
Arts Alliance.
This inaugural public music and art project
of the Clearwater Arts Alliance placed
eleven upright painted pianos in prominent
locations throughout Pinellas County,
where the public can play them and enjoy
seeing the decorative designs painted on
them by local artists. The pianos were
donated by Randy’s Wholesale Pianos. Colin
Bissett, the project director, is encouraging
individuals to video their performances and
send them to the Alliance, where they will
be judged. The winner will be announced
when the pianos are auctioned off at the
project’s Encore Party.
