Golden Anniversary of the MFA
From Saturday, February 7th until Sunday, May 31st, the MFA (Museum of Fine
Arts) in St. Petersburg will celebrate its 50th Anniversary with an exhibit called
“Monet to Matisse – on the French Coast.” The exhibition is inspired by the Museum’s
stellar collection of masterpieces created by French artists and others who worked in
France. There will also be paintings from other sources, such as the Metropolitan
Museum of Art in New York and the Art Institute in Chicago, as well as from private
collectors. These paintings were created on both the Atlantic and the Mediterranean
coasts of France and will include works by Monet, Renoir, Matisse and Picasso. The
MFA can be reached at (727) 896-2667 or www.fine-arts.org.
