FROM THE EDITOR
EDITOR’S NOTE
I can hardly believe it. Here we are with our 9th
edition of the Appraisal Buzz magazine. Publishing
a print magazine is very “retro” and a whole bunch
of folks thought we’d lost our minds when we began
this venture.
My accountant, rightfully so, asked if it would be a
money-making venture. The answer of course, was
no. So why do we do it? First of all, it is fun. And we
have a very talented team with all of the right skills
to deliver.
The mission was to promote Valuation Expo and
all of our exhibitors and sponsors in a way that our
competitors do not. We are 100% committed to
6 | APPRAISAL BUZZ FALL 2019
ensuring that our attendees enjoy the best possible
experience at Valuation Expo, second to none. Our
magazine is a venue to promote what our upcoming
event will be all about.
We survey our attendees and constantly adjust to
the needs of the appraisal community. Valuation
Expo has grown in reputation of being the # 1 place
to network. While social media is a great way to learn
and seek counsel from our peers, there is just no
substitute for face-to-face human interaction.
One of the objections we hear from appraisers is that
it is just too expensive to attend a conference. I know
that simply isn’t true. From an early stage in my
career, I committed to attending as many
conferences as were available. The connections I
made at these events became invaluable
professional contacts, with many being close friends
who I enjoy seeing at Valuation Expo and other
events throughout the years.
We hope you decide to invest in yourself and join us
and put your networking skills to work.
Learn, Network, and Prosper!
Joan N. Trice, Editor in Chief
