From the President/CEO
and Chairman of the Board
Welcome, friends –
This season of gratitude is one of our
favorites, and when you work in the
performing arts, you always have so
many things to be grateful for: we have
wonderful people just like you coming
in and out of our theaters to enjoy
the best we can offer in outstanding
performing arts programming. Our

cup over oweth this month, and along
with the performance you’re attending
now, we hope you can catch these
other delightful shows.
Jobsite Theater’s acclaimed production
of The Threepenny Opera – the seedy,
glitzy musical that famously paved
the way for blockbusters like Chicago
and Cabaret – runs in the Jaeb Theater
GARY SASSO
until Nov. 12.
Chairman
We have two eye-popping dance performances this month,
Travis Wall (So You Think You Can Dance) returns with his
company Shaping Sound to Morsani Hall on Nov. 9 with
his new show After the Curtain, and Tango Buenos Aires
also brings a brand-new show, The Spirit of Argentina,
celebrating the life of Carlos “The King of Tango” Gardel,
to Ferguson Hall on Nov. 30.
Our musical cornucopia includes performances by Ben
Folds on his Paper Airplane Request Tour in Ferguson
Hall on Nov. 11 (featuring special guest Tall Heights), popclassical
crossover faves Simply Three in the Jaeb Theater
Nov. 13, a cappella all-stars Straight No Chaser in Morsani
Hall Nov. 18, new singer-songwriter talent Colter Wall in
the Jaeb Theater Nov. 17 and Club Jaeb’s feature, Tony
Furtado, plays Nov. 20.
This month also kicks off our National Theatre Live
series with No Man’s Land, Harold Pinter’s absurdist play
starring the dream team of Ian McKellen and Patrick Stuart.
Remember this is a lmed version of their live performance,
and we will screen the lm in Ferguson Hall on Nov. 19.
The Tony Award®-winning Best Musical Fun Home runs
in Morsani Hall, Nov. 28 – Dec. 3, as part of our Bank
of America Broadway at the Straz season. We are thrilled
to present this groundbreaking musical about family, the
search for identity and nding the humor in the events of
life that seem impossible to accept. See pages 4-5 for an
exclusive Straz Center interview with Alison Bechdel, who
wrote the original graphic memoir Fun Home.
Other be-there events include Straz LIVE! in the Park, our free
community day with a concert from 3-5 p.m. in Curtis Hixon
Park on Nov. 5; Demetri Martin’s comedic return to Ferguson
Hall on Nov. 5 with his Let’s Get Awkward Tour; and white-hot
YouTube musical sensation Lindsey Stirling with her Warmer
in the Winter tour in Morsani Hall on Nov. 24.
Thank you for being here, and we hope you enjoy the show.
