Magnesia Specialties, Mideast Division President
John Harman Celebrates 40 Years of Service
Magnesia Specialties and Mideast Division President John Harman is
celebrating his 40th year of service with Martin Marietta.
After joining the company as a sales and service engineer, Harman worked
his way into positions of increasing responsibility. In 1982, he was promoted to
sales manager of fuel additives for what was then the Southern Region and
subsequently took over management of magnesia chemicals sales within the
same geography. In 1988, he was promoted to product manager of fuel additives,
a position he held for four years.
In 1992, Harman became the general manager for Magnesia Chemicals. Two
years later, he was promoted to vice president-general manager, a position he
held until becoming president of Magnesia Specialties in 2006. Eventually, in
2013, Harman took on responsibility for the company’s aggregates operations
in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and West Virginia, assuming the additional role of
president of the Mideast Division.
Earlier this year, Chairman and CEO Ward Nye met with Harman at the
Magnesia Specialties facility in Manistee, Michigan, to present him with a
plaque commemorating his years of service.
“John has run our Magnesia Specialties business with incredible efficiency and
has brought that same focus to our operations and sales in the Mideast Division,”
Nye said. “Moreover, John has always undertaken his duties and responsibilities
in Martin Marietta with a total commitment to the enduring values that make
this company great. As a result, his contributions are vast and have literally
helped bring Martin Marietta products not only to homes and businesses here in
the United States, but to the distant corners of the world.” ▼
