Chairman and CEO Ward Nye announced that
Southwest Division President Larry Roberts
has been named president of the Mid-Atlantic
Division. Succeeding Roberts as president of the
Southwest Division is Ron Kopplin, who had most
recently served as regional vice president-general
manager of the North Texas/Oklahoma District.
Sean Foley will take over for Kopplin as the
district’s new vice president-general manager.
Southwest Division president since 2006,
Roberts joined McDonough Brothers, an organization
that ultimately became Martin Marietta’s
Southwest Division, in 1980. After spending 14
years as a controller, he transitioned into an
operational role in 1994 and was appointed vice
president-general manager of the San Antonio
District when Martin Marietta acquired Redland
Stone Products from Lafarge in December 1998.
In his new position, Roberts will be based out of
Greensboro, North Carolina. He will continue to
report to Nye.
Kopplin joined Martin Marietta in April 1999
as a sales representative in San Antonio. He
was promoted to general manager of Black Spur
Quarry in 2002 and general manager of the
Houston District in 2004. He was named vice
president-general manager of the Houston District
in 2006 and assumed the same role in the
North Texas/Oklahoma District in 2008. He
was promoted to regional vice president-general
manager in late 2013. Kopplin, who is based in
Dallas, will now report to Nye.
Foley joined Martin Marietta in Denver in late
2011 as the result of the company’s asset swap
with Lafarge North America. Joining Lafarge in
2006, his roles over the years have included project
manager, estimator, construction manager/

Texas Ready Mix Team Takes Part in Career Day
Sales representatives Randy Humphrey and Chris Keathley along with
Driver Trainer Heriberto Torres, represented the Northeast Ready Mix
District at Clarkston Elementary School’s Career Day in Tyler, Texas.
Humphrey said the group spoke with the elementary school children
about various elements of the business during the three-hour event on
Oct. 13. The day, he said, was enjoyable for all.
“It was a wonderful experience and a great community event that
drew many local businesses in our area,” he said. “We were happy
to participate.”
Humphrey said Martin Marietta’s presence at Career Day was part
of a wider effort being made by the Tyler Area Builders Association to
educate children about career paths that often don’t require advanced
education.
“I’ve served on the Association’s Board of Directors for about three
years now, and one of our goals is to reach out to younger children
as opposed to waiting until they get to middle school or high school,”
Humphrey said. “Not every student is suited for college, so we want
them to understand that there are good careers in the skilled trades,
the service and construction fields.”
