Weighmasters at Bridgeport and Chico
quarries recently used the holiday season
as an opportunity to provide a local charity
with donations for men and women in
need. District Production Manager Dean
Gatzemeier said that instead of exchanging
gifts, weighmasters Jennifer Williamson,
Sherry Dugan, Tiffany Lopez and Janice
Hamner (seen above from left) purchased
materials for 28 gift baskets to be distributed
at the Stagecoach Rehabilitation Center,
a facility that provides therapeutic care for
seniors who have recently undergone
surgery or who have had a hospital stay.
Williamson, a weighmaster at Bridgeport
Stone, said the baskets contained toiletries
for men and women as well as warm socks,
word search books and small flashlights.
“It’s a good feeling to know that some of
the residents received this gift of necessities
they may otherwise have not been
provided,” Williamson said. “Seeing the
residents receiving their baskets definitely
brought a smile to my face.” This coming
holiday season, the weighmasters aim to
distribute about 110 baskets. The figure
represents the facility’s maximum capacity.
