On Oct. 15, 2018, is the 110th anniversary
of the Metz Fire of 1908, the singleworst
tragedy in the history of Presque
Isle County. In observance of the anniversary,
the museum is joining with the
Presque Isle District Library to sponsor a
Rogers City Theater on Saturday evening
of the Nautical City Festival. Using photos
and artifacts from the museum’s collection,
museum executive director and
curator Mark Thompson will tell the cap-

ternoon of festival week.
On Sunday, Oct. 14, the museum
will also join with residents of Metz and
visitors to observe the 110th anniversary
of the Metz Fire. Activities will center
around the Metz Fire Trailside Historical
Park and narrated bus tours will also be
Sunday, Nov. 18 will mark the 60th
anniversary of the tragic sinking of the
Steamer Carl D. Bradley of Rogers City’s
Bradley Transportation Line. The museum
will open that day with a special
exhibit in the Bradley House that honors

the ship, its namesake, and the men
who crewed the vessel that fateful day.
A special bell-ringing ceremony will also
be held at the Great Lakes Lore Maritime
Museum in Rogers City that day.
On Wednesday, Nov. 21—the eve of
Thanksgiving—the Bradley House will
kick off its 2018 “Christmas at the Museum”
program in conjunction with the Optimist’s
“Light Up Rogers City” in Westminster
Park. The museum will be open
following the ceremonies at the park and
Santa usually stops by.
In conjunction with the Presque Isle County
Historical Museum, the Schooner Appledore
V will again be offering cruises out of Rogers
City during the Nautical City Festival.
The museum will also be open the
Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving,
then revert to its normal Tuesday through
Saturday schedule, ending the Saturday
before Christmas. For further information
