scripture and application. Before you

even begin to write your Bible study,
spend a few minutes in prayer. Ask
God to open your heart and guide
you to a portion of scripture that He
would like you to share.
TIP: Choose a topic that you
believe God has inspired you to
share about. After you have your
topic, search for Bible passages
that correctly support the topic.
Keep your portion of scripture to
three verses or less (if possible). You
will want to spend a little time reading
through the scripture to become
comfortable with it. This will give your
mind some time to internalize the
message of the verse. (We recommend
you read the verse a minimum of
seven times.)
APPLICATION
This part is easy and fun! Application
is where you remind everyone of the
main point and give them a way to
apply it to their everyday life. It’s often
helpful to do a quick recap of the main
themes of the verses you just read.
Then, come up with a single sentence
that is short and easy to remember,
but will help people apply the lesson
they just learned. For example: “Isaiah
55:11 teaches us this: if you have the
courage to speak it, God has the
power to work it.” The nal step is to
give them an example of how to use
what they’ve learned. For example:
“When you are going through
something tough, remember God’s
Word has power. And if you have the
courage to speak it, He has the power
to work it.”

Scripture
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and
sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer
your bodies as a living sacrice, holy and
pleasing to God—this is your true and
proper worship. Do not conform to the
pattern of this world, but be transformed
by the renewing of your mind. Then you
will be able to test and approve what
God’s will is—his good, pleasing and
perfect will.” -- Romans 12:1-2 NIV
APPLICATION
It can be easy for us to let others
inuence who we are. We all want to
be liked. We all want to avoid looking
foolish. Sometimes we want to t in so
badly we are willing to do things that we
know are wrong, but God has challenged
us to be different. He created us to live
for better things. My mom always told
me, “A verse a day keeps the devil away.”
It’s kind of a funny statement, but it’s
packed with truth and wisdom.
The second verse of the passage says,
“Do not conform to the pattern of
this world, but be transformed by the
renewing of your mind.” You see, God
knows the pressure we will face day in
and day out to “t in.” He knows how
it will make us feel and how confusing
it will be. That is why God gave us the
Bible. Reading the Bible everyday helps
us understand what is right and what
is wrong. It encourages us when we are
feeling down; and it connects us to God,
the giver of life. This verse does an
amazing job reminding us that when life
gets hard, when the pressure to “t in”
becomes too much, we can turn to the
Bible.
Remember: “A verse a day keeps the
devil away”. Spend time in God’s Word
every day and you will experience a life
transformation. When you are facing
pressure to do things you know aren’t
the best for you, it will give you the
strength and encouragement to stay the
course and live your best life.
