WHY THE PELICAN?
PRAYING PELICAN MISSIONS
The pelican is a special symbol for our
organization. Pelicans are common in
Central America, including in elize,
where Praying Pelican Missions began
in 2003. While the connection to our
original ministry location is impactful,
the symbol goes beyond a regional
wildlife species.
The pelican is also a symbol of
Christian sacrice. Legend says that
mother pelicans will sacrice parts
of themselves for their young when
food is scarce. Christ made an even
greater sacrice for us, sacricing His
life so that we may be forgiven. With
this in mind, our goal is to serve in a
sacricial way, giving of ourselves in
order to benet others, all in the name
of Christ.
