awhile awhile f
for a show this size. The theatre department has grown
grown
so big t
that having a live band in the pit reduces what can be
done. However,H
with a show like Footloose, a live band was
necess
necessary and will be incorporated into the show for a even
more liv
live effect.
The s
stage show of Footloose debuted on Broadway in 1998,
and this
this will be the first time Nixa has ever performed the show.
Footlo
Footloose follows the story of Ren McCormack, a teen who
moves t
to the small town of Bomont from Chicago. Ren is
horrified
horrified that the town has outlawed dancing, which causes a
struggle
struggle between himself and the town’s reverend, who was
the one
one to convince the town to outlaw dancing. Throughout
the play
play, Ren finds help from Ariel (the reverend’s daughter)
and Wi
Willard to convince the reverend to revoke the outlaw on
dancing
dancing and also heal from a past event that impacted them all
greatly.
“It’s a
a powerful story about how change isn’t a big scary
thing,” Curry said.
Nixa students have been working day and night to prepare
for the show and they are excited to present it to the Nixa community.
“I have loved watching the kids grow from the first rehearsal
to now, and I can't wait to see where we end up on opening
night,” Fleetwood said.
The show will run from November 12-17 and tickets can be
