soft skills everyone needs. “This
is something that teaches students
to work together, and what
we do together can create something
great or it can be a total
disaster, depending upon how
we work together,” stated Harris.
So, what happens to the
canned tomatoes? They get
eaten. The students will be using
them to make a sauce in the
spring when they learn how to
make homemade pasta.
To support the students and
their gardening journey, visit their
farmers market that opens when
produce is available. Look for
them at the Nixa Junior High
PTA Craft Show where they sell
their bath products and lip balms.
To see when they will be selling
products and produce, follow @
jtsdgardents on Instagram, Twitter,
or Facebook.
They will also be having
their large plant starter sale in
April. “Our focus is how we
can be sustainable. The main
focus is to educate our classes
on where food comes from and
that we can start a garden from
seed,” stated Harris.
