All Things Moore County
by Rebekah King
The year was 1979, when a young man, four
years out of college, visits Moore County to play
a round of golf. On that same weekend, he buys
a townhouse at Lake Surf, current day Woodlake,
and falls in love. With a growing career in the
jewelry business taking him all over the country
and into Asia, his heart stays fixed on a little
place calling him home. Returning every single
chance he gets, the man lives with one singular
hope, to come and never have to leave.
Such is the story of Mr. Bill Sahadi, owner
of Fore Properties and producer/host of “All
things Moore County.” Forty years a Moore
County property owner, twenty years a local
business man, ten years a radio show producer,
and always a lifetime lover of all things Moore
County, Bill invites a visit.
Innovation to Inspiration
Meet Mechanics Hill
by Rebekah King
“Trust your gut. And trust it immediately;
don’t second guess it,” tells Joey Boswell, owner
of Mechanics Hill Marketing. “Be inspired every
day and don’t take no for an answer; keep moving
forward, not backward. Don’t let people tell you
what you’re going to do or not going to do.” Such
advice flows from a lifetime of experience and
becomes the driving force behind the team at
Mechanics Hill Marketing, LLC in Robbins.
Four years ago in April 2015, under the
direction of Joey and Martha Boswell along with
Dan Ring, the innovation center for new ideas
became established. The sole purpose remains
to help other small businesses succeed in the
marketplace—to help them grow their sales,
increase their presence, and get their name out
there in a very saturated market. From a career
in marketing and manufacturing on a global
scale, Boswell explains, “Our team creates
market strategy for your product based upon
our experience of what works and what doesn’t
work. Martha works as the controller. Dan is the
marketing director, the master of design from
the logos to videography. I’m the owner. I’m
the ears; Dan’s the eyes; Martha’s the glue for
Mechanics Hill Marketing.”

Three Workplace Trends
for 2019
by Linda M. Parsons, IOM, CCEC
Moore County Chamber of Commerce
Just because we are into the second quarter
of the year doesn’t mean that there isn’t time to
look at workplace industry trends. Each of the
following trends are and will make an impact
in some way on your business. Now is the time
to educate yourself and strategize on how to
approach these trends.
If you aren’t aware, 2019 is the beginning of
the Gen Z takeover. There isn’t an entrepreneur
on the planet who isn’t aware of the need to
understand and engage with millennials. Born
between 1981 and 1996, millennials are the
largest generation in the U.S. labor force and
have forced brands to re-image the products
they sell and the talent they hire. As we approach
a new decade, however, millennials are quickly
becoming old news. The new generation, Gen
Z, are true digital natives, and their preferences
will dictate the future of a business success for

A Challenging Year
by L. Steve Crain
My late wife Carol E. Crain and I moved
with our two daughters to Southern Pines, NC,
in 1989. That year challenged us, but the most
challenging year we ever faced would come
later.
During the summer of 1988, when I was 41
and worked in carpet product development,
we sold our Greenville, SC, house and moved
to Kernersville, NC, because Karastan Carpet
(Eden, NC), bought Bigelow Carpet, where I
worked, and closed Bigelow’s headquarters. I
had to move in order to keep my job.
