of stunning visual art to enjoy. In 2009, local
artist Nadia Utto began the Hobe Sound
Mural Project. The project’s goal is to honor
past history, and present vitality and future
promise while creating an outdoor gallery of
beautiful walls. The project has now been
recognized by the State of Florida and is part
of “The Florida Mural Trail”.
With the help of more than 50 professional
and amateur artists, there are now 24
beautiful murals with plans to continue
adding more. These murals are located
throughout the town on the outside of walls
of various buildings in Banner Lake Park
and along Federal Highway, Bridge Road
and Dixie Highway. These murals depict
gorgeous beach scenes, kooky underwater
seascapes, sunrises, recycling themes and
more. Visitors can tour these murals on foot,

Museums in and around Hobe Sound offer
a vast array of local history, memorabilia,
science exhibits and cultural experiences.
schoolhouse to service Hobe Sound; the
Apollo School is located in the historic Zeus
Park neighborhood. The Children’s Museum
of the Treasure Coast is a notable place
to visit, especially for families with young
children because of its many interactive
exhibits, and hands-on activities. For a
slice of Americana, check out the Elliott
Museum. The Historical Society of Martin
County contains many interesting local
archives and artifacts; it is also housed at the
Elliott Museum. More local history can be
experienced at the oldest building in Martin
County, the House of Refuge, where victims
from shipwrecks once found safety. Historical
downtown Stuart has much to offer history
buffs as well.

There is an endless list of fun activities that will
keep Hobe Sound residents and visitors busy
and entertained. Aside from the museums,
galleries, theaters, parks, and beaches, there
is still more fun to be had.

The Hobe Sound Festival of the Arts occurs

partners with Howard Alan Events to bring the
Festival of the Arts to Hobe Sound each year.
